runs but cuts out
hello all i just wanted to ask and introduce myself.
first little bout me, my gf and i bought her a f3 to learn on and for me to use at the track (i have a buell xb12r for the street)
ok now the question when the bike is idling its fine when you are going through the gears it starts to cut out in the top of 2nd and through the rest.
if its idling you can rev it to redline. this is my first carbed bike so i have no clue where to start looking and trooble shooting.
thanks so much for taking the time to read this and i am looking forward to the advise

I hate to throw this out there again... but my cam chain tensioner did this to me before I replaced it.
It would idle fine in nuetral, and as soon as I put it into first, it would run but there was a slight difference in idle. Then once I began to shift through the gears - ran like crap. Does you engine make any loud noises?
Not a bad start to check the fuel system. Filter, lines, carbs and valves. Check the inside of the tank for rust - I'm doubting that's the issue since it runs fine in neutral, but it's an older bike so it wouldn't hurt.
For the love of god - when you solve the problem, don't forget to post it here so we can see and learn!

it has a manual cam chain tenioner on it but doesnt make any noise at all.
i do know that the tank had some rust in it then hte guy i bought it from (a friend and riding buddy) got it he emptied the tank lined it with something (not sure what but it is red) and changed the fuel filter because it was clogged and on backwards.
he had it dyno'd when he did they took off the tank and ran it using something like an I.V bag full of fuel and it ran fine through all the gears when the tank got put back on it started the problem.
