Default Reverse Clutch

I was wondering if anyone knew how to reverse the clutch meaning instead of 1st being down it would be up and the rest of the gears would be down.... I drove a gxsr 750 my cousin bought it like that and i like it alot. SO i wanted to know if anyone knew how to do it and can they show me step by step how to do it thanks.....---MArIo

First of all, that's called reverse pattern shifting... NOT reverse clutch, reverse clutch would be like when you pull the clutch lever in, it's engaged and when you let it out it's disengaged.

Anyways, he had aftermarket rearsets that enable you to use the GP stylereverse pattern shifting, it's basically an extra pivot in the linkage. You have to buy these, although I'm not sure but newer gixxers might have them stock.

To do it on an F3 you will need aftermarket rearsets. (looking at anywhere fromabout $200-$600)

You're smoking rocks, Hershey. Both my F3 and my F4 have the GP style shift pattern(reverse).

The F3 was as simple as flipping the linkage. The F4 was a little more work because I had to cut the front sprocket cover with a Dremel. Took my time and made it look pro.

The F4i's are swappable as well. All with only a 12mm and 10mm wrench.

BTW, the science behind it is simple.

The standard pattern works by pressing down, or up on the lever which pulls the linkage in a clockwise and counterclockwise direction, respectively.

When you reverse it, now when you press down, it moves the linkage in a counterclockwise direction, and clockwise for the upshifts. Eseentially reversing everything. 1 up, 5 down.

+1 when i bought my bike, the shift pattern was like that...since it was my first bike and i definitely didnt want to stray far from what i learned in my MSF course, i asked him how difficult it would be to change back...he took out a wrench, went over to my bike, and literally 30 seconds later it was back to normal

My bad, I've never looked closely at our linkage I just assumed it was not reversible without rearsets... You know what they say about assuming.

I'm glad someone brought this up. I had been looking at my linkage and I thought I could do it but I wasn't sure. Looks like I have something to do tonight when I get home
