Default Replacing the guage faceplates

hi all, have the gauges apart, just want to replace the face plates with some fancy ones. there is a problem with getting the needles off though, it looks like the spring is attached to the needle, and i can't get the needle of the post that the spring is attached to, any help?

The needle pulls straight off the stem, then remove the face plate screws (2) then remove the face plate. The spring is below or under the face plate.

+1 on the illumiglo gauges. I like the reverse glow ones where just the numbers light up, as opposed to the whole face but not the numbers lighting up.

well i went ahead and took my gauge plates off and while i was easing the needles off the whole damn pin came out of the assembly.. plus the spring on the speedometer came completely off and now it doesnt work
im getting the f4i gauges and doing that swap.. might as well since i done jacked this gauge cluster all up..

but for all you other guys that dont have this problem with the needles.. well i found out that the green color is cause of the back of the gauge faces... so all i did was use a dremel tool with a sanding head, and went to town on the green junk. replaced the gauge faces and now i can put any color light in the back ground and turn my gauges into what ever color i want. i didnt take any pics cause i was mad at the damn needles..
all in all though it was pretty simple.

doh!!! i was thinking about this post as i was camping this weekend and couldn't get here in time, i did exactly what you did the first time. ruined my guages. for anybody else that cares to do it, in order to remove the needles you have to lift it past the stop, it will stop and not spin any further about 30 degrees behind the stop. make a note of that position and keep spinning the needle counter clock wise to loosen it. then once the new faces are on just push the needle back on in the right place. and don't try to put any sticky faceplates that advertise no needle removal. you will screw up, just remove the needle how i described, it will save you a headache, because none of them just slide over the needles.
