Default Replacement mirrors / mirror cutting

First off - hey everybody, it's been a few years since I've posted here.

This morning as I was getting ready to leave for work, I pulled my bike out of the garage and started it to warm it up. I walked back in the garage to press the button and heard the worst sound that any of you could imagine. Turned around just in time to hear the bike it turn itself off.

Damage report: Bent to hell clutch lever and broken mirror. The shifter is fine, thank goodness.

I spoke with my local motorcycle scrap yard and have a new clutch leaver on its way to my house. However, he didn't have any mirrors. Now I was thinking about buying a replacement mirror, but then I was thinking that the mirror arm and the housing behind the mirror are not broken, just scratched a bit. Then I was wondering if buying some small mirror from hobby lobby (arts/crafts store) and attempting to cut it to size would work just as well.

Has anyone had any experience trying something like this? Call me a tight-wad if you want, it won't hurt my feelings.

I used to work at a glass/window shop. If you have the proper glass cutter, cutting the mirror to fit shouldn't be a problem at all.
