Default Rear wheel dampener question

While waiting for my new tires and sprockets to come in, I decided to look closer at the hub on the rear wheel. I was taking the sprocket off and noticed the whole flange or hub (part hte sprocket is attached to) moves about an 1/8". Does this make any sense? If I grab the sprocket and move the whole hub (or driven flange as it is called in the manual) it moves just a little. If the rubber dampeners inside needed to be replaced would this fix the movement...or should there be some movement.

I hope I explained this well enough...let me know if you need more info.

Thanks in advance...

You have painted a perfect picture for us. what you are describing is called the Cush-drive system. it is how these bikes are designed to handle the stresses of torque and acceleration without causing damage to the metal parts of the wheel. it is functioning as advertised, and should not be a cause for concern.
