Default Probably a Dumb Question!!

Ummm yeah so i just got my 97 f3 for $2000 but i need to replace the fork seals. Im about to do it myself, got the stands and all that BUT.....WHERE IN WORLD DO YOU PUT THE TRIPLE TREE STAND TO GET THE FRONT END UP? I feel like a dummy. The guys from Trex said the stand would work for my bike.
Any hints would be GREAT!!

If its a triple stand there is aloop on the lower clamp that a pin from the stand should go in. Unfortunatly to do this you have to take off the ram air duct which necessitates removal of the upper

You'll have to also remove the tank, and most of the airbox to remove the ram air inlet. Oh, and to remove the tank you'll need to pull the side parts of the tail section and the seat. Once you remove all that crap, I think all you have to do is unbolt the radiator mounts and you should be able to squeeze the ram air through. At least that's the way I did it...but that was a couple years ago.

There is no loop on the lower triple clamp. I have always used a hoist setup through the neck on the frame to perform this task. Here is what I use to I tear down my bike. I don*t have any direct shots but you can see it in the back ground. It is an engine hoist (a.k.a. cherry picker) for cars which only costed $120 and another $8 for the straps.

Well, it isn*t as bad as it looks... could be considered a little excessive. If I am just working on the front end, then all you have to do is support the front end. I*ve got straps up and down mine because I took the rear end apart too. But I agree with you Idv12, you have already purchase the lift... it better damn well work!!!
If you looked at my pics though, I removed the triple clamp so there really isn*t a whole lot to support the bike with. I like to inspect the steering head bearings because for preventive maintanance because the grease gets old/dirty. By the way, there isn*t a whole lot of grease on the steering head bearings from the factory. About a week ago I worked on another forum member's F3 and there was next to no grease on the steering head bearings.

Alright fellas,
I found/ created a solution to my triple tree stand problem. Marc...there actually is a hole for the pin to go into and kwong was right it is right on top of the air inlet. The honda guys sure did a bad job with this one because after lookin at it for a while im like ok well the inlet is only about an inch and a half past where i need it to be for me to use the stand. SOOOOO....this might be a lil drastic but i chopped off the extra inch and a half and what do u know the stand pops the front end right up. Dont know if that inch and change is gonna come back to bite me performance wise but just in case im gonna clamp it back on so its back to "normal".So MrBomb feel free to get the triple tree stand if u wanna go my route cuz "NOW" it works like a charm....I guess thats what happens when you watch too many episodes of macguyver!!!! LOL.

Remove your side panels.

Lift the front of the bikeby the forks with a stand

Place jackstands under the engine cases

Lower the front stand, making the front forks accessable.

Remove forks.

Simple.
