Default Pre lubing a used replacement engine

Getting ready to install a used replacement motor. Replacement engine has not been run in over 5 years. Short of replacing crankcase oil with new, NEED ADVICE on how I can properly introduce oil into the cylinders (and other locations) before first start to prevent dry start damage. Thanking all in advance!

Well, I know how they do it with a small block chevy...a drill connected to the distributor..

I would think the best thing to do is remove the plugs and cylce the engine with the starter motor for 10-15 seconds, with oil in the pan of course.. But first I would make sure the engine turns by hand, without the plugs in it.

pull power wire to both ign coils so it wont start and use the starter to turn the motor over for a few minutes to get oil up to the top of the motor

Yep, but I would also pull the spark plugs so your starter motor isn't fighting the compression of the engine. Just a thought.

Maybe a teaspoon of regular engine oil in each cylinder.
