I went out and took the rest of the bike apart. I ended up sanding and painting the frame. I'll work on the gas tank either through the week or next weekend.

Although I sanded the frame I expect it to chip as I ride the bike. If it doesn't work as well as I hope, I'll pull it back apart and send it off for powder-coating.

Looks Dope!! If you buy the led integrated taillight from china its like 20 or 30 bucks. its a good buy imo. How do u plan on supporting the rear passenger seat? just curious.
Also, how'd you get prep the gas fill? i was going to disassemble mine and sand down the corners than throw some etch primer on it and hope it lasts.

I'll more than likely go with an integrated tail light because I don't want the bulky tail lights, but I have a very nice stock 600rr light. That'll come after I mock the tail fairing up.
I prepped the tank by stripping it down to bare metal. It was probably overkill, but I wasn't sure what I was starting with. I then prepped the metal with self-etching primer. I then threw on a few coats of high build primer and sanded. I ended with 3-4 coats of color with a fairly light first coat, followed by 4 coats of clear. That should give me enough clear to color sand some of the orange peel out (it's a little colder than I'd like for painting).
As for the seat, I'm going to break out the welder and fab up whatever bracing I need. I'm already going to raise the frame up to help the tail fairing lines match up a little better with the bike. The tail fairing should get here sometime this week so I can get started on that.
I think the next project is going to be tackling the clutch before I start putting the bike back together.
