Putting on the base coat tonight. And my gf got her b-day present (Canon Rebel EOS XSi) so hopefully the pics will look good.

Note: Duplicolor Paint Shop's Brilliant Silver is very metallic. Thought I was going to need the metallic clear mid-coat. But it will be completely unnecessary

Just before the final base coat I've been taking the paint can, shaking it really well, refilling the sprayer and agitating the cup to remix the 'metallic'. Then as soon as I finish the final base coat, I go over the part completely with a mist coat from about 12".

Hopefully all those precautions will even out the metallic

Default Update

The new camera is officially 'Hers' now. So she gets to set the rules: "Not until everything is dry enough to be back on the bike" Gotta love women.

So these are with my phone. I still have the right lower to wetsand and paint (had to repair a hole in it). I want to redo the front center cowl as well. And the gas tank is still waiting for last. The paint is dry but I haven't wetsanded anything prior to doing the clear tho.

You can see in this last one a few spots of old paint that still eluded 80 grit on a da

Looks good though, I'm gonna be using duplicolor to paint mine, I'm going with the deep blue, they only have this blue available or do they have others? Good Job bro

Duplicolor's Paint Shop line is pretty limited in color choices. Deep Blue is the only one I'm aware of.

I chose it because it's readily availible (any auto store) and inexpensive. So for my first attempt, screw ups are easily fixed inexpensively. I prolly will redo the bike again next year with HoK and new fairings (or do a new bike if my money lines up right )

How much did it cost you for all of your paint and supplies?
Also, how many one handed push ups can you do with your sanding arm?
