Default Online Parts vs. Dealer

I was curious if anyone knows of any popular and reliable online parts businesses, or do most people prefer their local dealer? I am most interested in OEM parts, than aftermarket, but welcome recommendations for both. I apologize now if this thread should have been placed somewhere else. Thanks in advance.

depending on the part, ill use ebay, but for those odd parts i use bikebandit
cant really do a dealer/online comparison, the only dealers around here are for harleys. dont even bother with them.

but it seems that in general if you get it online it will be cheaper, but if you need a part ASAP then go for a dealer.

There are a few online places Ron Ayers comes to mind and also Bike Bandit that has been covered the dealer will most likely be more expensive but they may have something in stock also so no waiting.

For the less expensive parts, I just go to my local dealer. There is no point in waiting a week to save $.50.

Many online dealers are only warehouses without actual store fronts so they have less overhead and as a result they can pass on the savings. We started price matching here and I've heard other dealers are starting to do the same, but often it's hard to keep up considering we need to keep the lights on.

That being said, I know times are tough, but support your local dealerships when you can. I dunno about around the country, but motorcycle dealerships are dropping like flies around NJ. After all, one of the advantages of owning a Honda is the vast dealer network.

Living in Hawaii, I'm used to searching for the best deal vs the dealerships. The largest local dealership uses Parts Unlimited. I've bought tires directly from Parts, saving about 30% vs the dealer. I agree with using bikebandit.com for hard to find OEM parts. The schematic search is really useful.

cheapcycleparts.com

I have only used them a few times but overall good prices. Shipping seems to take longer for them but 1 of my items was on back order and they wont send any of it till they get the last part in. Also if your buying OEM there setup online kinda sucks. I got confused because it said O-Rings - 4 and put 1 in the quantity assuming 4 came in a pack... wrong. 4 is how many are needed for that part. lol
