Default Oil Dipstick/Fill Plug Very Difficult to Turn

Hey guys. I've got the F3 600 on the road for the spring and I have really been enjoying it.

I've bumped into a strange issue...I don't know the bike that well, so I've been trying to check the oil frequently to see if it's using any.

The oil fill/dipstick plug is super hard to turn. Like I have to use a small adjustable wrench on the tab to get it out. Putting it back in requires too much force, so I don't get it fully bottomed out. It's not leaking, but it's not correct either.

I've looked for anything obvious. It's not the oring jammed in the hole. It's not damaged threads. I looked at both the case and the fill plug-they seem ok.

Has anyone run into this before?? Maybe someone put the wrong fill plug in this thing (I have zero history-Bought it for next to nothing).

It sounds like you might have the wrong dipstick. Post up a picture and someone will tell you if it’s obviously wrong.

Hey man I’m new to riding as-well and have a 1996 Honda cbr as my first bike right now, same issue. It won’t leak but it just won’t fully screw in. I’m having trouble getting my bike to run right now so that’s least of my worries but lmk if you find a fix

Super weird!

Today it's very easy to remove and reinstall.

I'm actually not a new rider. I had a '79 gold wing for years, then a '73 Motoguzzi Eldorado (which I still ride in the summer months), and I ride dirt bike also.

When you get that engine running right be very careful. You have a lot of bike for a starter bike. This is my first sport bike and I was very surprised when it started pulling harder and harder the higher I got in the rev range. My other bikes are not like that. I was sorta ready when the front tire started going up the first time but it was still...unsettling... Now, it's easy to get used to, but the first time was eye opening.

Odd, doesn't appear to be any damaged threads on dipstick or engine. Weird...

Agreed. Mine is just a little bit tough to crack loose when removing it but that just the o-ring seal breaking free. Otherwise no issues at all loosening or tightening.

Thanks for the pics.

I will confirm the length.

I'm still not sure what caused it to be so difficult.
