not warming up

RE: not warming up
My 97 requires full choke to warm up for about 30 seconds(meaning i can idle the bike without it not that the temp needle goes above the C). I hardly think a bike riden for more than 5 minutes does not get wamr enough to start moving that needle. Sounds like a diy job if you know what your doing(coming here was a great start).

RE: not warming up
Well, I mean, is the bike warming up, or is the temp guage possibly faulty.
Just because the temp gauge doesn'tseem to be working doesn't mean the bike isn't warming up.Start your bike, ride it aroundfor twenty minutes or soand then park somewhere and leave the enginerunning. If the fan kicks on, then it's simply your gauge.
If the fan doesn'tcome on after 5 or10 minutes, then there'sthe possibility of a faulty thermostat.
To check your thermostat,go buy some fresh coolant and try this test...
Flush your coolant, remove the thermostat and suspend the thermostat in a pan/bowl of water. Heat the bowl of water, and using a thermometer - check if the thermo valve is opening at around 80 degrees celsius or 176 degrees farenheit. If it doesn't open by 84/183, then replace the thermostat.
The good ones are like $5?
But I bet it's just your gauge[sm=happybounce.gif]

RE: not warming up
What do you mean by not warming up? Does the bike feel like it's hesitating or lurching, or is it just that the temp. gauge is near C? When I'm out riding, my temp gauge stays just a little above C as long as I'm moving and not doing a lot of stop-and-start. But the engine feels like it's perfectly happy there.
