No start condition “Carburetor chamber filled with fuel” rich conditon.

Can’t say I could recommend it for a couple reasons. One I’ve never seen or heard anyone using it. Two, it’s only for dual carb bikes so you’d have to have two of them. Finally, looking on Amazon, there zero description about it and only the single picture.

How about backfiring when trying to start? I tried starting with the fuel off, turned the fuel back on, never started again. Poured stale gasoline and don’t have a baseline idle adjustment screw turn and having to start over except occasionally backfired when screw turned in about +6.

dannoxyz having me flush the tank and begin with new fresh gas and pea cleaner this weekend.

It it backfiring through the carbs or the exhaust? Backfiring through the carbs indicates the settings are too lean. Through the exhaust means unburnt fuel and a too rich environment.

As test, squirt some petrol (2-3cc) into airbox, wait 10-15s and try starting.

Both. Is there a base setting for the idle adjustment screw? Backfires both intake and exhaust depending on the idle adjustment screw.

For the idle adjustment screw? No. However, the fuel/air (pilot) screw is on each carb and it has a base setting. That's really what you should be dealing with at this point of the process. In the sticky section of this forum is a service manual in pdf format. I would download that and give section 5 a read. It might help to clear some things up for you.

Well the story is, synchronized the carburetor and pilot screws. Attempted to start with the fuel switch off. Never started again. Periodo.
Haven’t used fuel stabilizer in the tank or spare 1.5gal just PEA fuel system cleaner. I poured some PEA in each unfortunately the amount not measured. I decided to add more fuel from the 1.5gal that had been in the back window of my car for two weeks in the sun. I began to adjust the idle screw without documenting where the idle screw was trying to get to start to rich the mixture and has never started again. I emptied about half of the bad gas and put in new gas. Fouled the plugs.
New plan to empty, fill with half bottle of acetone, swish around, pour out and put in new gas with PEA fuel cleaner probably Lucas fuel system cleaner. What a mess. (However did find out since don’t have a owners manual, had been measuring the oil incorrectly not checking on top of the threads though screwing the dipstick back in!!! Omg 😱 catastrophe. 1 qt low.

Between the time you synchronized the carburetor and attempted to start with the fuel switch off, did the bike ever start or try to start?

This is the gasoline that was drained from the cell. Appears to not be anything that could be used.


what do you think a new fuel tank?
