New bike, need input and ideas
So I just purchased a 1998 cbr600 f3. mechanically, the bike is in good condition, newly jetted carbs, new front and rear sprockets and chain as well as the forks have been resealed as well as the motor. Got it for a decent price of 1750 with a clean title. Only minor flaws are a dent in the tank and a jerry rigged set of race plastics( due to the previous owners kid knocking it over in a driveway) . all cosmetics aside, I am located in Tempe, AZ. Being my location is a popular bike area, does anyone know of a good way to go about getting new plastics for the bike as well as a tank. I am using CL on a daily basis, but stolen items are a nagging itch at the back of my mind even though i would like to avoid dealer prices. My roommate is a fabricator and I am in a loose apprenticeship so any close matches or possibilities to make the bike unique would be greatly appreciated.
So on to plans for the bike. feel free to comment/criticize.
1. new sets all around. want to go with a camel sand/gold body with personal design in midnight blue. paint at home (yes i have a compressor and airbrush/paint tools) paint frame midnight blue
2. fabricate flush led taillight section, fabricate HID light to front as well as flush glassed turn signals and high beams
3. send out rims for anodizing or powder coating midnight blue with accents (not sure which is possible or cost effective)
4. new seat. any ideas where to get seats or technique for upholstering. done car seats before.
5. ride away and enjoy the looks of car bound wannabes
looking forward to the input. designs and pics to come soon

RE: New bike, need input and ideas
Goto ebay if you want OEM plastics otherwise you'll pay up the *** for new OEM ones. Other option is to get one of those repsol sets from Hong Kong, but get the paint code so you can paint the tank also. I think they also have one or two other color options available.
You can get a new seat from corbin and they could probably do a custom cover on it, they don't make the seat until you order it, at least that's how it was when we ordered a seat for my sister's bike.

So i got bored today while sitting around the house. tore off the current race plastics and added a nifty design on a whim. tell me what ya think. took all of a few hours. this is only temporary until the new plastics get here. planning on going with f4i plastics a friend coincidently has laying around and will using the techniques I saw on a previous post.
