Default Lowering my handle bars, Advice

Okay I have a pretty good ideal of how to lower my handle bars. Losen the top and bottom triple tree bolts. My question is what other item do I need to do the job? I only want to lower them about one inch. I saw in video a guy using a ramp on the front wheel and a rear wheel stand.

Do I need all of that or can I just have my buddy hold the bike center and losen the bolts a little until the front end begins to drop?

Err if I were to do that, I would rather lift the front wheel from the ground mate.

But I have no knowledge on the proceedure

If your just loosen the bolts and bring the forks up through the clamps you are going to have drastic effects in the handling department. Raiseing the rear or lowering the front. Which is what you are doing, sacrafices rear traction in the turns. Especially a whole inch. Most track guys make small changes with this procedure and test it out. When I say small I'm talking millimeters, 1mm or 2mm at a time. But if your not tracking go ahead. I wouldnt.
