Sorry, not laughing at you, laughing with you. Sounds like something I'd do.
No worries I laugh at people doing dumb things all the time, Now that I think about it the bike would barely start after doing that, There is no way I would do that with the new fairings [sm=badidea.gif] (note to self get some stands)

I was just out in the garage looking at my bike with the fairings off and there really isn't a good place to stick a jack under either. Maybe on the two frame braces that come down and the engine mounts to, but those are so high off the ground - who's got a jack that goes that high...

When I did mine I put it on a rear stand with a jack underneath the bike, loosened the triple tree and tool the clip ons off. Lowered the jack, which allowed the tubes to slide up teh triple tree. Once it got to an inch or so I stopped the jack from lowering anymore. Measure both sides to make sure they were the same and tightened it. The bike turned it alot faster, especially once I added the f4i rear shock which raised the rear and inch as well.

yep, small piece or wood to even displace the pressure and lifted it slightly up from under the exhaust. Didn't do any damage it being that its steel.
