need a dog bone, thats located under the rear shock...its some what a pain in the ***. JUst make sure u take your time and have jacks and stands supporting your bike u can hurt yourself or damage your bike....i locacted a adjustable dogbone that lowers the bike from an 1/8 to 3inches instead of the cheesy 1 to 3 inch only.............good luck.....

I have the same problem, question/concern. But when I called the local motorcycle dealer they said they don't recommend lowering since it will ruin the way the suspension's ride and suggested that I either shave the seat or turn the suspension down to the lowest setting. I also called up a motorcycle upholstery shop and they said 200 buckaroos!! This is to take out the original foam and put it a thin foam in since the chair doesn't have much to cut out originally.

200 is way too much in my opinion to be shaving off the seat.

Anyways, does anyone know a lower bike handles compared to factory?

Id think you would have a harder time shifting from left to right if you were draggin your knee in corners, because with the bike setting higher, it gives more of a top heavy feel to it and its easier to role from one side to the other because of the weight being up higher.

Lowering the rear with a link, severely changes the spring rate in the rear, making the ride much harsher.. You lose some handling, but it's mostly due to ground clearance issues when leaned over. Mine was lowered an inch when I got it, and it was ok for awhile, but once I put a stock dogbone and slid the forks back down, it rode and cornered much better.. didn't have to take it easy in turns, since my footpegs werent dragging and sparking.. I'd say 200 is a bit much, try some other shops, I know a dood with a Katana, that had the foam removed and they installed gel pads, and recovered for 100 bux.. Keep shopping around, but I wouldn't recommend the lowering link idea..

you can shave the foam down on the seat your self,

all you have to do is taker the seat off, then remove the cover it is held in by heave dutie staples

take a electric knife and shave the seat to wear you want it then re-staple the seat cover back on, it should give you the 1/2 inch to 1 inch you are looking for

as far a lowering the bike, it handles like **** and bottoms out when you come out of a wheele. i have also torn up my shoe pretty good trying to corner the bike due to the fact your pegs hit alot soon then if at stock hit
