Default JB weld to seal up leaky fuel pump?

I've got a leaky fuel pump on my 98 F3. Its leaking from the seam in the center of the pump. I was going to replace the pump but I'm wondering if I couldn't just use a bead of JB weld around the seam after cleaning it up to seal the pump back up. I'd love to avoid buying a $175 pump if I don't have to.

Opinions?

My first reaction is riding around, weld fails, fuel leaks on cylinder head, fire ensues, bike is engulfed, crotch catches on fire. My worst nightmare is a firey crotch.

Yeah i would say get a new fuel pump. Because eventually you are going to need a new one. But thats just my first thoughts. Try craiglist to find some used fuel pumps. Or you could just ditch the pump and go gravity feed.

just bypass the fuel pump, you wont even notice a difference.
