Default im in a right mess...carb sync!

Hi all.

To cut a long story short.....having sorted my f3 that had stood for a few years and got it running very well, i today (just for my own piece of mind) decided to complete the work with a carb sync. Now ive messed it right up. Too much wild screw turning and idle adjustment (well i was tired and not paying attention!!) and now its jus revvin at 6k+ and i just cant get back to a base setting.

Any help or suggestions appreciated....i feel a right muppet! Was running well and vacuum gauges showed the balance was not that far out...just wish id left it alone...dont want to go to main dealer but this may have beaten me!

Check to see if you have your idle screw turned in too far. The one next to your leg and Petcock. You can pull the air filter and look down the velocity stacks at the butterflys on the carb throttle. See if they all seem to have the same amount of opening. With the throttle in the closed position, they should essentially be completely closed.

IDodirt! Hi an thanks again. Idle screw is definately wound out......so much so linkage adjuster has fallen out......think i'll have to fetch off the carbs to screw it back in (its tight for space under there lol). Not having a good day! Before it fell out idle was still high tho and vacuum all over the place. Just wish i could get back to a base setting ;(

Idodirt a really big thanks for that (again)! Re-adjusted sync adjusters till the butterflies closed (great but simple suggestion) and started again. All balanced and done and within tolerance...running smooth and nice smooth idle at 1100rpm.

For anybody elses info...fitted irridium NGKs too. Wouldnt say its any quicker or makes a big difference but does seem to run a little bit smoother...but might be just because they are new.
