hey guys i am looking at this bike and it is the red and black model with 8000 miles on it. it was dropped at slow speeds leaving some rash on the right side fairings, broke the right foot peg, left mirror is gone, exhausthas minor scratches. He wants 2500 bucks for it. What should i do? is it a good price, deal. other thing is... its my first bike. what are the opinions out there? let me know. thanks guys

everything you said sounds mostly cosmetic. id be worried about the consumable parts such as the condition of the chain, sprockets, are the forks leaking, how are the tires. on the f3's check the gauge cluster and make sure the odometere, trip meter and speed o make sure they all work. make sure no leaks from the crankcase. also very important ask questions about the regulator, battery and rectifier. the f2/f3/f4/900's all have issues with the electrical.

It sounds like a reasonable price. But like the others said, give it a very close look for any leaks, etc., make sure rims and frame are straight. If you're new to this, bring along someone who knows bikes and can lookit over for you and take it out for a spin to make sure it shifts smoothly through all the gears, doesn't pull to one side or shake at speed. And if it looks like it will need new tires or brake pads, factor that in along with what you'll pay for a new mirror and foot peg, and use that to get him to come down a little on the price.
An F3 is a lot tamer than current 600s, but it's still a serious sport bike and can get you into trouble if you don't respect its power and performance. It's not really the ideal starter bike, but if you are sensible and cautious, you should be OK. It's definitely one of the most comfortable sportbikes ever made, so it's a good choice if you'll be using it for transportation, and not just for tearing up the twisties or doing track days.

I just bought a 95 f3 for 1200 yesterday as my first bike.. Mechanically sound bike had it looked at by a mechanic i know. Cosmetically needs a little TLC due to the fact the girl who i bought it from layed it down at about 30 mph. Like they said has plenty of power for a beginner maybe a little to much. I have already noticed how easy it is to exceed the speed limit and not even notice. I was doing60 in a 35 and at about 9,000 rpm hold on. FUN bike youll love it overall, just dont get to crazy.

in the end just remember this.... "is it really that good of a deal you cant walk away?" when dealing with people who absolutely wont budge on price i often try to remember that ... $2500 isnt that bad of a price so personally id try to get it down to 2300 because you will need money letf over to fix those parts. good luck and let us know what you decide
