Idling and backfire to eventual bog-out.
So i just completed my f4i convert with 600rr tail on my 1997 f3. It took me a couple months with my work schedule and such. I wrecked her a while back and decided to do the convert since I wanted a new look without spending the cash on a newer bike. It took was mechanically fine after the wreck. I have tried to start it numerous times and it starts with hesitation after a few minuets. After it starts it has to have throttle to stay on. The throttle is very unresponsive. Then after about 5k rpm and up it will backfire at random times. This sounds like the carbs need cleaned, mainly the slow/idle jet. BUT I HAVE CLEANED THEM TWICE, WITH GREAT ATTENTION TO DETAIL. I will not totally rule out the carbs being the culprit because Im not a professional, but there was no difference in how it ran before and after each cleaning. I am wondering if there is anything I could be overlooking? Vacuum lines, electrical, etc? OH and by the way I have already replaced the fuel pump, and spark plugs, both recently, so I know they are both fine. And I will also have pics up soon of the conversion. Any help would be great because I would like to get here back on the road soon!

Its mainly just getting the right components to put on and then fabricating two or three simple pieces of metal. Then just adding a few washers to get the placement of the fairing just right. I will try to take some pics this week. The tail is currently getting painted so I will do my best to get some pics up asap.

could be a numerous of things. I would start by doing things to eliminate what it could be. Like put in new plugs and check sensors. Also when you cleaned the carbs did you check to make sure you put the right main jet numbers in the correct spots? Remember its 135 on the outside and 138 on the inside.

I cleaned the carbs the right way. Removed all parts and put all parts back according to specs. the pilot jet was taken out and replaced with the exact amount of turns. I realy do not believe it is my carbs because the bike ran the exact same before and after each cleaning. But say my spark plugs were fouled, what would be causing that? And what would I have to fix to stop this from happening again?
