Default howling???

I have a 98 f3 with aprox 10500 miles on it I know the chain is worn and makes a little noise but their is a slight howl mostly under exceleration. The noise isn't as noticable off throtle. Does this just sound like chain/sprockets or could this be something else? Also is the motor oil the same as the trans. or are they seperate? Sorry for the newbie question first bike.

How tight do you have your chain? Howling noise could be a few things (some of them good) could you be a bit more specific about where the noise is coming from. The oil for motor & gearbox are shared.

The chain has plenty of slack in it. The noise seems like its coming from the front lower part of the engine. It's hard to tell as it only does it when your riding doesn't do it at all when it's just sitting still.
