How to replace instrument cluster w/ another stock unit???
I was riding the bike last week when all of a sudden my speedometer rolled to zero and stopped working, then shortly after I lost all of my gauge lights as well as the idiot lights.... The tach still works, but that is it, and the lights on it are out too, so one can only see it work during the day... I checked the fuses in the little box, I've replaced the regulator/rectifier (a month ago), and I made sure none of the wires to the cluster weren't loose. So what happened??? I read similar posts to this on this site, but haven't really had any luck. Does anyobdy know what it could be?? My next step is replace the cluster I guess, I'd like to put a stock unit in (no fancy swaps), so tell me how hard is it to do, and how do you do it? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, especially if you knew the problem w/o me having to buy a complete new unit and do the entire swap, thanks...
Replacing the entire cluster is kindof extreme. Your next step is to start testing yoru voltages. See where the drop occurs, and trace backwards form that point. Without this, you run the very real risk of dropping in a new cluster, and having the exact same problem.
