Wouldn't have thought of that - but it makes sense - the starter motor is just a huge high amperage electrical motor, generates a big electrical field.

lol well these "lines" that are cut into the pavement, are about 40-50 feet long, so a car coming up behind you will trigger it. but if youre the only one there (on your bike) and it never trips, then youre legally allowed to proceed through it if you deem it safe.
