How do I remove both wheels at the same time ?
Hi,
I have just bought a pair of new tyres and I was just wondering if somebody could please advise the
safest way to remove both wheels at the same time so that I can take them to the tyre fitter.
Any advice gratefully recieved
many thanks
Dave.

I use a chain hoist. I take six tie downs and loop them through various certain areas of the frame and then lift the bike till both wheels are off the ground. Makes life great for tearing down the bike and greasing up all the pivot points as well as for changing tires. If you use this, don't go too far back on the sub frame because it isn't meant to hold the weight of the bike. Use the neck and just above the engine because the frame is extremely rigid in these areas.

stands are the easiest way to do it.
otherwise the strap method works fairly well if you have something overhead to strap to. Before I got stands I pulled all the fairings off, hooked the frame on either side near the motor then to a beam in the shed. For the rear I hooked straps near the seat mount and up to the beam.

I don't recomend WD-40 because it is more of a cleaner than a grease. I disassemble the whole rear suspension from the rear shock to the swing arm. I clean out the old grease in the bearings (They are needle brearing) and then put in clean grease on the bearing of the pivot points in the rear suspension. The grease I use is Bel-Ray Waterproof Grease. A warning though, it isn't a high temp grease and it melts when applied to high temp components. I.E.the caliper pins on the brakes need to be greased and I use a high temp grease for them.
