it's just 3 screws that hold it, unscrew all of them that surround the gascap (8 I think) and it'll pop up.... why doesnt the key work?

My cap get stuck sometimes & I have to push down on the edge of the cap (as I turn the key) so it pops back up.
If it's the lock itself getting stuck, try a bit of graphite powder on the key (just don't get any in you're tank).

if its locked, you cannot remove it even if the screws are taken out because its locked in.

the gascap must be unlocked in order to take it out.

When i replaced my tankcap it was a little corroded in the lock, i just sprayed wd40 in the hole and worked it a little, made things go a lot more smoothly. If not, well, try hammering a screwdriver in the lock and open her up, just consider the fact that you'll have to change both the ignition and tank locks, if you dont want to ride around with two different keys, mixing em up and all... I think a set of used ignition and tanklocks cost me about 120$ at a scrapyard.

yeah, i would try the wd-40 and let it soak a little. busting that lock is gonna open a whole other can of worms.
