New to the forum. I recently did the F4 guage swap and I finally found the way I'm going to mount mine... Just like Scrufdog did. That looks nice and clean. Anyway back to the original post...
llmmck, the F4 swap seems to be a pretty popular one. It's so easy to do too, mine worked the 1st time around.

depends on your mechanical experience. If I can get ahold of a sending unit, I doubt it would take more than a couple hours to get it hooked up and going.
The biggest thing to work around would be that our tanks dont have anywhere for the sensor wires to come out of the tank. I'd have no problem, however, with running the wire through the fuel tank overflow passage, if possible.

Hey scrufdog - I looked at your site, and I see you were able to hook up the new gauges to a laptop to bring up the mileage on the F4i's to match your bike's mileage. I am contemplating making a swap and have a source for a set of gauges, but they only read 1.5K miles and my bike has 11.5K. What did you use from the laptop to bring up the mileage?

i downloaded a frequency generator, and set it for a 3100Hz square wave output. I then took a spare headphone plugI had, cut the wires on it so I could get to the left channel, and hook the ground of the headphones to the bike, and the left channel (white wire) to the speedo input of the gauges. Plugged the headphone jack into the laptop and started the frequency. It simulates 180mph, so it takes a little bit, but its cheaper than waiting for someone to fix it, and getting your bike title redone to reflect the new mileage.
