Default Got a F3! Can't get neutral? Key wont Turn??

Finally picked up my 95 F3 and everything is almost perfect except two minor things.

I cant seem to find neutral, even with my hand being verrry careful it just wont go. every now and then ill get lucky and it will go into it but I usually have to turn the bike off with it in first and start with the clutch.

I'm also having trouble with the key cylinder , It goes to the lock position fine and the off position, but does not want to go into the on position? Any ideas?

I'm a rookie so im not sure if there is some sort of safety im not doing that is preventing me from getting it to click into on?

Thanks for the help!

If you need help starting it, I can send you a pm on how to temporarily hotwire it. It's pretty cool when you find out how an electronic system works

try rolling the bike forward when you shift.

you can try wd-40 or powdered graphite in the lock to free it up, it might just be worn/sticky

is your clutch cable adjusted correctly?
what kind and grade of oil are you using? wrong oil can do funny things in the gearbox.

also try, from first gear, putting a little upwards pressure on the shifter and giving it quick little rev.

This is pretty much a continuation of the other post you started that had questions regarding the shifter. You said you were going to post up photo's of it in that thread, but you didn't. Is this related to the slop in the shifter linkage ?

Ya my mistake. Just trying to figure out what the deal is. Ill get some pics up

As far as the clutch being adjusted I believe it is but not sure, I can get into 1st & 2nd always but rarely can get into 3rd and 4th and have never gotten it into 5th or 6th . The times I have gotten it into 3rd and 4th I was going maybe 15mph just trying to shift up. but then when I go to click up it just feels like i hit the top and there is nothing left.

I just got it so I'm not to sure what oil is in there. I can look on the forums how to change it what type do I put in?
