Started the bike this morning. Wouldn't run without throttle. So decided to clean the carbs today. Numbers:

0 - Number of low speed jets I could see through.

1 - Number of spiders I found clinging lifelessly to a jet

2 - Hours it took to get the damned carb sleeves to break free from the head. (This includes coffee breaks, coffee induced poop break, time spent awkwardly asking my neighbor if I could borrow her hair dryer, and time spent explaining why I just shoved her once clean hair dryer into my dirty bike)

Just about time to put this thing back together...

EDIT: Buttoned her up, took her out, fell in love. Whole new machine, she is...

Is this due to running the sea foam? Is it still running ok or did it take a down turn? I'm thinking about doing the sea foam but mine runs pretty good so I don't want to screw with a good thing if its going to cause problems down the road.

No, seafoam helped tremendously. This carb issue was more likely due to the fact that the bike sat for some ridiculous amount of time (last registration, says DMV, was sometime in 2008). The low speeds were clogged at purchase. I was experiencing terrible take-off hesitation to the point of stalling. The bike, when I bought it, wouldn't get much past 75 at WOT. Seafoam ended that issue in a hurry. I plan to seafoam this thing on a relatively regular basis.

Bike runs like a champ now. Still have seafoam in the tank. Two more bottles on the shelf.

mine had no problems what so ever. i decided to winterize it and added the seafoam to the tank. well the plan didnt work, i still did over 300 miles after the seafoam. what a difference. the bike ran much better. quicker response and more power on the take off.

just added more seafoam today and filled up the gas tank. took all the plastics off to clean the bike in every crack i can squize into and took the battery off. oh yeah all that after doing a nice burn out. changing the tires in the spring. my kids thought the garage is on fire. lol.
