Getting bike this weekend, things to check?
Hey guys looking at a bike that I will probably be buying this weekend. It is a '96 Honda CBR 600 Smokin Joe's edition with 21k miles. I have two questions.
First are there any specific problem areas or things to check out for this bike? This is my first bike but I will have some experienced friends along with me to test drive and check it out.
Second I am having trouble finding specifics about the Smokin Joe's edition. Is it just a bodywork/paint change? I am fairly sure it is an original (it's actually painted white now) because of the vin having the 250 instead of the 200 in it.
Thanks in advance!

The smokin joe packages was just different colored fairings nothing else changed. Those bikes are pretty solid, just make sure everything is straight and look for oil leaks.
Checked to make sure the frame and rails were straight and also looked for any leaking. That stuff looks good.
I will be getting the bike inspected (minus the sticker) before buying it, that way I can get a little piece of mind before I spend any real money.

just check all fluids , color and smell . And try and get everything compression tested if possible . Otherwise , if it is cheap enough , dont worry to much as it dont take much to fix minor issues with these bikes . Heck , you can even replace the whole motor for less than $700 if you do it yourself . Good Luck with purchase .
