Default gearing

hey everyone i am about to buy new chain and sprockets and i was wondering what everyone has done for gearing. the place on ebay recommends up 2 in the back and down one in the front, has anyone else done this? i'm not too worried if my bike wont get up to 150 anymore but would like more off the line. thanks

That is a popular mod. Dont go less than 15T up front as the chain has to make too tight of a bend. Yeah -1 +2 is pretty good. I went -1 and Im happy with that. You wont be reaching 150 with it geared, but it sure will get to 110 quick.

my f3 that i just bought has a sprocket in the back that is -2, and it is alot faster off the line, im pretty sure that my gears are still the same tho, and i would reccomend the set up that i have, i got up to 105 today, and still had plenty of room to go faster

?????? -2 in rear? That regears it the wrong way. You have to slip the clutch more to get out of the hole. That actually gives your bike less torque multiplication to work with. Think of it like a 10spd bicycle. Which way is easier to peddal? Low front and high rear. Your motorcycle works the same way. Now put it in 10th gear and try to pedal from a stop, harder to do because the torque multiplication from your legs is less.

I'm sure he meant +2 in the rear. My F3 was regeared by the previous owner. It was running -1 front and +2 rear. I couldn't stand the speedo/odo inaccuracy, so I went back to stock gearing. When I was going 60mph, the speedo showed 80mph. My odo is at 20,450 miles now, but in actuality the bike really only has about 14k miles. I'm a new rider, so I'm more comfortable with the slower acceleration anyway.
