as for the bent bar, i would say just pound on that bad boy. and as for the gas tank, body shops have tools where they can get inside the tank and knock the dent out. i don't know if you would have anyway of doin it at home unless you could get your hands on some tools like that.

I HIGHLY recomend not heating up the tank on your own!!! I have seen the results of this with my own eyes!!! When the tank is heated up, the gas fumes ignite blowing the $hit out of the tank. It didn't turn into shrapnel but it did blow the bottom out some and completely disfigured the tank. If you have a way of removing the oxygen from the tank by replacing it with an inert gas, then it would work but our tank are design to have air pass through them and allow gravity to feed the fuel pump.

i don't think he's talkin about heating up the gas tank. he's heating up the bar where the tail lights are to bend it back to original form. you'd have to be either suicidal ora completeidiot to heat a gas tank up.

for the tank you could drain it of gas and then try with a smaller ball point hammer(depending on the area of the dent) try to tap the dent out from the inside of the tank.
