fuel pump
Okay, so i think i may have found one reason why i have been having problems with myf3.Now the bike will not even startand it does not even popso i thought maybe it is a fuel pump issue. I pulled the tank off and turned on the ignition and put the start switch in the on position and noticed that the fuel pump does not make a sound, no humming or anything. so i turned the key off and pulled the fuel line going to the carbs and then turned the key back on and nothing happened, no fuel coming from thepump.turned the ignition off and hooked the pump directly to the battery and it hummed and spit fuel, great newsthe pump is not bad!! Bad news, there is nopower going to the pump now. First i used multimeter in the 12v position with the ignition and start switch in the on position and checked to see if i would get a reading on the fuel pump plug... 0v, no reading. I then checked the fuse on the little fuseblockjust bellow the throttle and it is not poped. now my question is whatelse would cause the pump not to get power? is there another fuse or relay somewhere on the bike?If the pump has been working intermittintently would that cause the bike to stumble and and run rough in a short period of time since there should still be fuel in the floats? I know with an FI bike/car if the pump is bad it just wont run, but if you have fuel in the floats it should run normal until the fuel is used and the bike just dies correct? If anyone else has had a similar problem that could help it would be appreciated. thanks guys!!
Read through this thread. I put a good explanation on how the fuel pumps work in these bikes.
