Something is causing my fuel cutoff relay to activate, killing the fuel to the engine. I have a brand new fuel pump and relay, and it still happens. I've checked wires, and none are loose. When I hotwire around the relay, the bike runs 100% OK. But I'd rather not do this.

Any ideas?

Bike is a 97 cbr600f3, 23000 miles.

I would start by changing the relay out and seeing if that does it. It should because it runs just fine when you bypass it. If you have schematics and a voltmeter you can figure anything out.

 

i've changed the relay. with the old relay and the new relay the results are the same.

 

Do you have a wiring diagram?

 

The Fuel Cut Relay is controlled by the ICM. The same signal that goes to one of the ignition coils controls the Fuel Cut Relay. It's a Blue/Yellow wire.

 

so do i have a loose wire, a short, or is something wrong at the ignition coil? I've been all over this thing and can't figure it out, even with a volt meter.

When i hotwire around the relay, the blue/yellow wire remains untouched (the circuit is open).
