Default front break seals

ok i saw alot of break threads but didn't see any on the seal, sorry if this is old news, but is anyone else having trouble with the front break seal going bad repeatedly? i've owned my bike for only about 6 mnths but my seal has gone bad twice now which has made my front breaks non existant. the first time i got new seal from the honda dealership, i'm wondering if there is another one somewhere else that is better or last longer.

also is there a difference between the dot 4 break fluid, and the 3 or 4 break fluid?

and on a completely different note anyone know a good web site to go to for aftermarket markers?

Are you referring to item number 1 in this view ?

The only thing that's going to cause the seals to fail would be a damaged calliper piston. Scratches or corrosion on the piston can cause the seal to fail. I guess it's possible that you received a bad seal, but there's not too much to them ya know. As to the question on DOT 3 or 4, yes there is a difference. You need to use DOT 4 in your bike. It tells you this on the top of the master cylinder. Don't mix them either.

What condition isrubber sealin to be considered bad. I can't imagine a new one failing so quickly. There should be a hard plastic piece that inserts into that rubber seal. Do you have that plastic piece in place?

i'm almost positive it is, i won't be able to actually check it till i get back from work. and it doesn't seem that the rubber is in terrible shap, just that inside square keeps falling in on the rubber peice causing me to loose my vacume and therefore my breaks.

That plastic piece holds the diaphram in shape. Ithassome plastic pieces that stick down into the diaphram. Makesure they are there.
