Default RE: fork seals

Fork seals are not a bitch, much simpler than an engine removal anyway.

Get a manual and simplay start disassembling the front end. All you'll need to drive the seals is a length of PVC (prolly 2 1/12 - 3ft), that fits around the tube. You'll want the PVC to be less than a 1/4" in thickness.

After you remove the tubes, start brakeing them down, keeping one tube in tact until you're re-building the next one. That way if you get stumped, there is a perfect tube you can look at. It's all pretty self explanitory on how to use the seal driver. It's simple. Really.

The first time I ever did it, it took me about 2 hours to rebuild the first fork (no proper driver), the second one took me probably 7 minutes.

KID is right, it does seem like a bitch the first time you do it. There is an excellent writeup on the BARF forum with very informative pictures and what not. even shows you how to make the seal driver for reassembly. hope it helps, let us know how it works out for you!
