Fairing Repair

Fairing Repair
There are my fairings, let me know what you think the best way to repair them would be. The bottom belly fairings need an entire new piece built. I was thinking of cutting a piece of like cardboard to the shape and size and using that kind of as a base to start laying down the fiberglass fabric on it to rebuild it and stuff. I am also worried about cutting the headlight hold in the upper fairings because not only does it have to be cut for the light to fit in it but it has to be sized with the bike so it fits on perfect and isnt off on the bike itself.
I am pretty much done sanding them because i am going to rhino liner/line-x them.

Kind of a tough call Willkster, fiberglass can be a pain to repair, especially with that large of a section missing off of the lower. The upper and tail look ok, just need paint? Looks just like my airtech kit so you have a couple of options. If you stick with what you have and fix the lower or buy a new one(250.00) or so roughly, then have it all painted, do the work to get the headlight installed and figure out how to mount the tail section securly, you could have probably bought a complete abs body kit for the money and effort it took to do all that work.

awesome thanks a lot for the advice man! yeah i got the fairings when i bought my bike for 1300$ so i figured i would just work on repairing them because it would be way cheaper. Yeah they are the airtech fairings as well. i thought about selling all of these fairings and just buying a brand new set already painted and stuff, but i really like these a lot and they are really unique. But kinda like you said its just gonna take a lot of work and i am not really experienced at all with fiberglass repair. As for paint i am looking to do a rhino liner or line-x to them which is pretty easy and more in my realm of things i can do.

When I did the fairing on my XZ Yammie, I had bugger all idea of how to fix the large chunks of fairing that where missing. Idea came to me while I was moving some old furniture & saw this weather beaten kitchen table that the top of had started to come apart. Thin plywood that I could draw up the shape with and cut roughly with my wifes sewing shears (or jig saw if I had one) sand of the rough bits and fitted & filled with fiberglass resin really easily. Once it was filled primed & painted, you could not tell wot I had used. Ok only thing is that the fairing on our bikes are ABS, but I figure your going to be using fiberglass?

Hmmm that is a good idea. Yeah the fairings are all fiberglass and thats what ill be using to fix them. The only kinda hard part is that for the piece that i missing doesnt match up exactly with the other side. So i have to attach the upper fairing to it somehow and then kinda figure out what would fit best. I am hoping i can do it. Thanks a lot for you ideas let me know if you come up with any more i would be glad to hear them.
