Fairing help please
Why would you sand them down Kieran?
Things I know about vinyl are:
You don't put it on like the guys in the video did.
You do need the smoothest surface ever if you don't want imperfections.
You will get it wrong (even the pros do) in places, and will need to redo some of it.
I have NEVER done it myself, but have a friend who wrapped his GT-R in matte black. There were parts that never sat right.
I would say you may need to use several pieces cut to exact shape to tackle the tank.
Maybe the same for the fairings too, but I wouldn't think that sanding them is going to do any good.
I understand that you may be thinking you need a keyed surface for the vinyl to stick to, but I THINK it needs to be as smooth as possible.
I have put some VERY big stickers on some things before, and I used washing up liquid and water solution to stop the vinyl from sticking, then placed it, then used a hard plastic card like the guys in the vid, to smooth out the air and liquid, and the sticker would just stick afterwards. I assume that it's the same for vinyl wrapping, but on a larger scale.
Either way, I am very very interested to see how you get on.
It would make an excellent thread, so please get some pics up here when you are about to start, and document it!
Do your research and take your time for an awesome result.
That will be great to see.
Good luck!
Looking forward to it!

unless are going to take the time to wet sand everything do not sand down your fairings for vinyl wrap. you wont have a smooth finish on the wrap (it will show all the imperfections from sanding) and i imagine you will have a hard time removing the wrap as well
i spose i should have explained i bought the bike in a state or disrepair it has been slide down the road, i was saying i will need to sand down the scratches, fill them etc and then wet sand them until perfect, i didn't mean sand the whole bike lol! I've painted a lot before this is just my first vinyl attempt I'm looking forward to trying will deffo see if i can do a thread for it! cheers guys!
