F4/f4i/RR from other Hondas????
i've search on here and i couldnt find what i wanted.
3 Questions:
1. are the 3 spoke RR/F4/F4i lighter than our 6 spokes F3 wheels even though they are .5 wider and half the spokes and newer design? or would they be the same weight?
2. if i got a set of f4i/RR rims would they fit without modification? Still using my sprocket and brakes of course.. do these bolt on?
3. will they clear the swing arm without rubbing? i have a 180 tire on my F3 currently so i don't see any problems.
Reason why i ask is i can get a good deal on a set, i like the 3 spoke design, my rear tire is a 180 so 5.5" width suits it better, and i want to either chrome or powdercoat them. and i rather buy a set, not have downtime on my bike due to the process and be a patient customer lol
TIA Nelson

RE: F4/f4i/RR from other Hondas????
whats wrong with the rims already on your bike , just have them powder coated , and alls running a larger rear tire does is slow the bikes aceleration and turning , larger tire equals more rotating mass = less power , and f3's need all the power they can get

RE: F4/f4i/RR from other Hondas????
I was wondering the same thing. My F3 project needs a back wheel, and I found a VTR wheel cheap....might buy it just to find out.
No idea on the front. You can make anything fit...with custom spacers. Honda uses the same bearing size without exception on the 600's..F1 to F4i, and VTR, some 900's, Blackbird (600rr isn't on my bearing list)....but the brake rotor offset, speedo drive and fork spacing all have potential for differences.
The rear I can tell you what I do know. the F2/3 and F4 and VTR and 1996-1999 900rr's use the same axle diameter (though there is a change in the bearing/seal kit in 1997 on the F3). They also use the same rear rotor (I think honda has basicly 1 rear rotor for every sport bike). I don't know about the cush drive, but there are some sprocket overlaps.
I am sure the 600rr wheels are lighter....the front for sure and most likely for the rear even with the width difference....does that make them better..?..if you track your bike, that extra 4-8 ounces might make a difference in an s-curve, but is your riding at that level anyway...? Sure make them easier to clean....I hate cleaning the F3 spokes. If you have a completely bare wheel, you'll find the aluminum portion is pretty dang light...the bearings/seals/rotor weight more than it.
A 180 tire on a 5.5 rim will be a fuzz wider than a 180 on a 5.0 rim. But I think I heard of 900rr rear wheels on F3's a lot.

RE: F4/f4i/RR from other Hondas????
yeh i like the 3 spokes for a lot of reasons.. easier to clean, when polished or chromed the fatter/wider spokes are more appealing, not many F3s if at all with 3 spokes, wider and possibly lighter.
the 93-97 900RR rear wheel is 17x5 in rear and 16x3.5 in front. so the rear is the same as the f3 and they are 6 spokes also. so that is 2 negatives there.
so i wish someone could tell me if the f4/f4i set of wheels fit the f3 with no modifcations except to the brakes and sprocket.
