F3i or not?
Someone on the forums was helping me out with some pricing and I think he mentioned this bike is not a F3i (ie. fuel injected).. I'm pretty sure he did.
I'm just curious, how one can tell, sorry for my ignorance with this matter - I'm trying to correct that by asking this very question though

Thank you in advance. I'm asking and seemingly in a "hurry" because I'm wondering if I should even take my time to go see this bike (ie. is it FI or CARB).
Thanks guys/gals.

honda didnt produce a fuel injected sport bike untill 01 with the F4I.. the f3 is carb'd and you can also tell when you turn the key to the ignition position you hear a high pitch whine that is the fuel pump priming same in a car how you can hear it. also the f3 has a choke , FI bikes dont have choke.
the only wayou you will learn is by asking also on newer FI bikes they have digital gauge clusters and you will see a fi light .
hope this helps

Suppose I'll call this twit then and let him know his bike isn't FI. My last bike was a 95, so, I hadn't a clue. <grin>
hey man i sent you a pm back and yes you understood me corredctly .. the f3 is NOT fuel injected
no need to feel ignorant we all have to start out our education somewhere

Don't own an F3, but the bike should not be fuel-injected. It should have a carburetor. Quick way to check is to see if there is a choke on it. Hopefully some other riders will correct me if I'm wrong.

yea well, its not like you cant just take the throttle bodies off an F4i and make them work with a carb bike, it would take some work, but it is possible.....

The F3 is an awesome bike! Don't be discouraged from the lack of FI. It's an amazing bike to learn on and you won't be disappointed in it. It will go faster than you all day long. Rock solid too.
How much is the asking price? Seems really clean, from looking, I'd prolly pay around $2800 if the miles were low (less than 10K). Buy it and do a 97-98 tail/seat conversion.

Well, if its like a car. You'd have to change out the intake manifold, add injectors, add the fuel/engine management, change out the throttle body as well which probably houses the throttle position sensor, etc, etc. Never bothered making a carburated car, fuel injected and I don't think I ever would. The benefit of it is the engine management system aspect, which I tune AEM, Hondata, Uberdata, TurboEdit, Neptune, Crome, Haltech, etc. in the "Honda car world."
I know a little about carburators, though, it looks as though I'll be learning quite a bit more if I ever find myself a bike that someone isn't asking for crazy amounts for.. considering the age I'm looking for.. lol

It has 19,xxx miles on it. He is asking $4k... <grin>
Supposedly there are two people that offered him $3,700 for it, "they are just waiting on bank loan approval"... its believeable, whats not is that lazy people that don't pay attention to motorcycle economics ruins it for us that do pay attention and could pay less... but the flip side of that is, those that sell, well... GREAT for them.. ;p But, I'm not a seller right now, but instead a buyer, so I'm complaining! <grin!>
Let him sell it to them then.
My money says he will be asking you if you still want to buy it in a week or two. I love the F3's and I wouldn't pay over $3500 for a pristine F3. That's just me...
Offer the guy $2800cash if the bike is as clean as it looks - money talks.
