F3 potential?

Around in my area if you tell anyone you ride a sport bike they automatically assume that your one of those jackasses that bob and weave in and out of traffic and pullin wheelies down the road, instead of thinking that there are only a handful of idiots who do that the rest of us are responsible riders.

Dude, you wanna be fast, ride your bike.Seat time is what it's all about. These are bikes, not cars.Throwing good money after bad will not help you.If you are fast,it won't matter what bike you are riding.Bikes are like pianos, depends on who is doin' the tinkerin'.
To make an F3 motor compatable with modern 600s you are looking at spending 5 grand on the motor alone. On top of that, good luck on finding someone who will do the work. Most speed shops only work on late model bikes.
Get in some seat time.

superlund, people are reacting to your line of questioning. The questions about boosting the F3's performance to keep up with a late model 600, can it beat a Ferrari, is saying that you're concerned with speed. Since nowhere have you mentioned a track, people are assuming you plan to take it to the streets.
So basically we're just waiting for the inevitable "I wrecked..." thread.

True. A bike is only as fast as the person riding it. I went to a local drag strip last summer just to "play" on my '96 F3. I wasn't there to "beat" anyone, just ride fast and see how fast I could get it, legally. This guy on a newer GSXR 600 or 750 wanted to race me because there were alot of bigger (1000cc & up) bikes there. I told him I'm no competition, just having a little fun but we agreed to race. He blew me away! I totally expected him too BUT I pulled up against another guy on a newer ninja (he didn't even clean his tires off before staging). We took off and I never seen him after I left the line, blew him away, why? because evidently HE didn't know what he was doing or had never raced. Its all about experience then the bike comes into play.
