I'm going to take the headers off and use Holts Gun Gum on them as a temp repair. Am I likely to encounter snapping studs etc, when I remove the headers?

yes maybe no *delete as applicable*

all depends on what they are made of how long they have been in etc

just get loads of wd40 on them for the next couple days and use an impact gun gently though dont use a 240Nm one on full blast

I just did my headers.

How do they look first off? If they are completely corroded and all that then yes I would soak the bolts the best you can. I mean using an impact straight away is asking for trouble in my book. Id check to see what you can do with a box wrench first. You are likely to end up pulling the stud out competely but thats ok, and way better than snapping it off. Good chances are those threads on the cylinder side of the stud are decent since they are threaded into the head. Walk it off slowly. Going forward and backward if need be. If it wont seem to budge try giving it a little tighten first (very little). You could always use heat in there too and that will expand/contract as it cools and should be enough to jostle that free without to many issues.

Its actually really annoying to me how much mixing of metals they use on these bikes.
