Default F2 Forks work for an F3?

Hey guys,

Anyone know if F2 forks will work on an f3? A buddy of mine needs some new forks and it sure will help finding some, seems to be more f2 forks available.

Thanks,

Blake

They both use 41mm forks so F2 forks will fit in F3 triples. IThe brakes and wheel are probably a different story.

Thanks for the reply Red,

So you think there will be a problem with his brakes and wheel? Please explain.

The F3, being newer, has bigger rotors than the F2 and thus different calipers and mounting points so the parts aren't interchangeable -- F2 rotors are 280mm, F3 rotors are 298mm. The wheel spacers may also be different. I doubt it would work unless you also use an F2 front wheel and calipers along with the F2 forks. Which would mean a serious downgrade of the front brakes.

I'd say either try to find F3 forks, or do a complete front end swap (including triples and front wheel) from a newer bike. I have an 05 F4i front end I'll be putting on my '89 F1 this winter.
