Default Are F2 & F3 fork tubes interchangeable?

I've been trying to get some serviceable fork parts for the last few days and I came across a set with bent tubes. This gives me all good parts save the tubes. I would rather source some straight ones rather than have mine straightened and if I could use the tubes off an F2 maybe I can find some.

From what I know they changed the internals for sure, but are the tubes the same.

Thanks in advance for any help on the matter.

Cheers

The uppers and internals will fit into the lowers if that is what you are looking for. The internals of the F3 will fit, but only with some modification...The lowers will not match up with your F3 brakes or tire huger, so you have to use your f3 lowers what all is wrong with your forks? dont tell me your looking to swap forks because your seals are bad? ive seen people want to do that thinking they are taking the easy road out and end up in the same place they were a couple months later...lol

Thanks for posting up.

You didn't see my thread about terrible fork guts? Rusty, rusty and worn badly.

I have everything F3, except for the shiny tube part. If F2s were the same I would consider using some but it sounds like it would take internal modifications. Are these mods difficult to perform?

According to the parts fiches they are interchangeable since they list the same part # for all F2s and F3s. I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier. Too bad they're $200 a pop new.

as far as i know, the only mod you have to make is clipping a ring or something on the damper to get it to fit in the f3 lower tube...i would stick with all f3 stuff and just use the f2 uppers personally. or you could just put your back together so you can ride it and wait out a cheap pair of f3 forks. i got my pair off of miami's craigslist (im in jacksonville) 25 bucks shipped. i just needed to replace the seals and dust wipes..

so 25 for the forks
30 for seals and wipes
and a quart of fork oil, 11 bucks
