Default Engine acceleration?

First time out on my CBR, when cruising in town say 45mph in 6th gear, I grap a fist full of throttle and the acceration seems sort of lack luster. Once the engine rpms get to about 5,000 it sreams all the way to redline. I know I shouldn't compare to my CBX or Goldwing, but is this normal?

Yup, the delights of a 600 v 1000.
Also this is where the emissions are measured so generally there is a hole in the torque at that point.
I had my F3 fitted with a dynojet kit which evened out the torque curve but can't get a way from the lack of cubes!
At that sped you need to be in 3rd or 4th if looking to accelerate quickly or even second on a mad dash!!!!!

One other thing I noticed is you mentioned 6th gear and 45mph. Normally you should be in a lower gear at that speed. These bikes take higher RPMs quite well. If you drop a few gears when your at that speed you we’ll see much better response.

You got it. You can literally be in 1st or 2nd at that speed.

I know the trigger comes from the speedometer. Pink wire from speedo goes to the Air Vent Control Relay.
