BTW, Driving a bike with a discharged, crappy, dead, or missing battery can DISTROY even the best RECTIFIER.

Step 1 and 2 are 12.18v. Good there.. I have .5 ohms resistance between 1 and 2 wire and .5 between 1 and 3 wires. According to you, the RR is bad. It is a new RR, could it be the wiring, or the RR? I got it on ebay, and it has a 1yr warranty. Should I just get a new one? THanks for the info. Better than the crappy manual!!! A million thanks!! I'll see what comes next.

Your test results prove your wiring is all good/correct and your battery is good enough.

FOR THE HELL OF IT...

I just pulled my side cover so I can run the same test.
I got 12.8 for both steps 1 and 2.
My resistance is almost exactly the same as yours 0.6 ohms.

Eventhough your altenator resistance looks good, lets test it....
With my RR disconnected, I put my voltmeter on the AC setting.
Then I connected my black test lead to the 1st yellow wire and my red lead to the 2nd yellow wire. I turned on the key and cranked my engine.

During engine cranking (Before start) I seen about 9v AC on the meters display.
Once the engine started, I seen anywhere between 12 and 36v AC on the meter.

Repeating this, but with the red lead on the 3rd yellow wire gave me the same result.

THIS test will confirm that your altenator is OK.

If you get close to the same, GET another RR with confedence!

HAVE FUN

Alright, I tried that. Turn to AC and disconnect RR. Start eng, but there is no voltage when cranking, or running.. Are you sire RR needs to be unplugged for this test??

Now I plugged in RR and started it.. Started smoking immediately. I'm guessing it's toast now.

The RR should be unplugged for the alternator test.
It's coils produce AC voltage as the motor turns.

Were you probing the RR or the RR harness?

Also make sure you are on the AC scale, as the DC scale will not see the AC voltage coming from the alternator.

I don't know why the RR would smoke. and yes, smoke means toast.

Please disconnect it and look at test one and 2 again.
If ok jump to the above Alternator test.

On test 2 did you read +12 or did you get -12?

I'm a dumbass.. I had no voltage in that last test cause I had it on DC.... Put it on AC, and couldn't tell voltage when cranking(fired up soo fast!! Good thing!!) and had 13-15 idle and up to 49 revving. Same voltage between second and third yellow wires. Guessing my RR is toast. Got some crap from Rmstator.com where I bought the RR off ebay. $30 shipping crap to get another one when I paid $75 for this one. Might try a salvage yard around here and try to find a GSXR one. Guessing this is the problem...???

YA-BOY!

Your alternator looks good. I did not rev mine up too high, so that is probably why you got 49v AC and I only got 36v AC.

Get a good used or new RR.

* If your bike's harness is modified or hacked, please be sure the Red/White wire is indeed +12 volts and the Green wire is indeed Ground.

** Make sure the RR is secured to the GROUND plate. Please make sure the ground plate has a good ground connection.

Other than that, I can't think of any other strange reasons your old RR burned, other than it might have been defect-O!
