I'll have to think about putting some cheap ones on for the first year, cause in my area the specific paint job I wanted ran me about another $800 for an almost mint example, cause mine was 2600, and I've seen them now with different paintjobs for 1800, however, no test ride this time of year, so the difference might be less in the spring, either way the plastics are worth a lot I know, cause the shop said that they would sell that bike for like 3 grand.

I have a black center tail piece that you can have if you will pay the shipping. I also have a shaved fender, taillight and both rear side fairings but I found out they are for a 97-98. I have made repairs to the fairings and repainted them black. I would gladly sell all mentioned for 50 bucks plus whatever the shipping would be. If you want the balack tail piece just let me know. It is still the factory paint job it has a very small chip on on outer edge on one side.

Well according to ron ayers there was a SJR edition in 96. So its possible it is worth that. I'd want a little more evidence than the shop's word tho

No, it is not a Smokin Joes edition. It is the standard yellow with purple and white from 1996. I did exagerate a little bit on how much more it was, while there are some bikes in Wisconsin that do sell for $1800, which would be 800 lower, they have generally been low sided or worse. This bike is in virtually mint condition with around 16k on the clock. There is a 97 in the shop that is in mint condition that goes for 3500, and it has over 30k on it, so it is not a huge stretch of the imagination to believe that mine is worth the 3 grand they say. Just for reference, my bike is the bike in the avatar.

Sorry bud, but I'm gonna have to call BS on that one. There is no way that bike is worth 3,500 and there is no way any regular F3 out there is worth 3k. Not to be a jerk by any means, but I'm just not buying it.

A great F3 in primo condition with low miles might fetch $2,500 but in general anyone who pays $3k or upwards for a regular (non SJE) F3 is either quite ignorant or just really wants the bike for some kind of sentimental value and has the extra cash to throw away. (especially the 96 vs. a 97/98)

Most of the 97/98 F3's I see with 10-20k miles and are in good condition are going for $2,000-$2,300. I happen to be selling mine at the moment which is in very good condition with 25k miles and have been researching the going rates for these bikes (I've got 3 guys coming to look next week! wooo!) and most are going for right at $2,000 (a few above and a few below). I happen to be asking $2,500 but I know better than to expect that I will get that. The thing is that you can get an early FI model now for right at $3k and there's just no one out there in their right mind who is going to pay that for these bikes anymore.

I'm not hugely concerned about it, what's done is done, I got what I wanted. However, there are price differences in different areas across the country on motorcycles just like there are on cars, and the going rate for that cbr is in the 2800-3000 range IN WISCONSIN when it's in near mint condition.
