cutting out
Hi
New to the site wonder if anyone can help. Have a F-V 97. Have recently fitted a new race can to bike and took it out today for its first long ride since it was fitted. Riding for about 40 mins at a good speed when it suddenly died on me. Believe at the time it was doing around 8000 revs and of course 70mph NOT!!. Managed to pull over and had no joy in starting her. I can only explain it like I had run out of juice. Wasn't the case still had over half a tank left. Anyway after a few minutes tried to start her up again and it started no problem. Continueed riding and had no problems with her. Arrived at my destination and left her for approx 2 hours. On the way back home she done exactally the same thing however, this time I was riding in heavy traffic and was only doing about 3000 revs 40mph. Pulled over and had to do the same thing as before. Once it started rode all the way home with no further problems. Anyone have an idea what it may be. I know it sounds stupid, but could it have anything to do with the new can. I have had to adjust idle slightly on completion of new can being fitted. Also could I have dodgy plugs. Please help

RE: cutting out
I am positive you have an electrical problem. You may have a bad coil. It runs great and all of a sudden the coil gets hot and it stops working. Then once it cools down it starts up and runs like a champ. I have seen this problem with lawn mowers, snowmobiles, and motorcycles. It could be a pick up coil or something else electric... not exactly sure what your bike has.
