Cold weather running vs warm

I thought so too but the manual didn't mention that. What's your source?

Personal experience (I own a '97 model) which was confirmed when I looked at the factory parts diagram. The jets listed for the '97-'98 are 138,140. The '95-'96 parts list shows 135,138. I think the engine got a revised after '96 which required a bump up for the main jets.

So I went and did another jet swap because the 135-138-138-135 configuration ran like ****, with harsh vibration when cruising on the highway. It's now got 138 jets on all four, and pilots set to 1.9 turns. For the brief rip I took it was remarkably smooth and had power through most of the rev range. I think it's too lean at wot in low rpm's but I'll have to ride it more to get a better diagnosis.

I also bought a second exhaust header and a wideband I'm going to weld in so I can see what's really going on.

If you're running ethanol gas, I'd go with 140-142-142-140 mains, 42 pilot and 1 shim in each slide needle. Also 2 1/2 turns on the pilots.

I try to avoid ethanol and usually put in Shell 91 or Chevron 94 for no ethanol. I would also like to rescind my comment of it being lean in the low rpm's because it's actually too fat down low. I'm going to turn the pilots down to 1.75 turns.

I'm also an idiot and forgot to mention I have the stock needles shimmed 10 thou.

The bike is running the best it's ever ran, bar none. Power wheelies much easier too.
