Default clutch problems

I have a 95 cbr 600 and this is my first street bike. Im not sure if this is normal but the friction point dosent kick in till about 90% and then I have like no room to work with. I'm used to ridding a 250 dirt bike and I was fine at that but the clutch is so much more precise (like I only have a hair to work with) before it stalls. Is havind a small fiction point normal for a street bike? Is there something that can be causing this?

make sure your clutch is adjusted correctly, the end of your lever should move freely for about 3/8 of an inch so you know its fully engaged. if you get it to that point, or if its already there, then you will probably need a new clutch.
everyones clutch could be different, but mine engages at about 25-30% out, of course that also depends on where i have my lever at (adjustable).

Thanks for the help. I adjusted the lever and it helped a lot. I think I'm still going to need a new clutch soon though.
